A project-specific substitution starts with the details

DECON Studrails are a PohlCon product evaluated under ICC-ES ESR-2494. JSW Stud Rails are separately evaluated under ICC-ES ESR-3264, which includes a City of Los Angeles supplement. The two reports are distinct; approval of a JSW substitution depends on the proposed assembly, the governing drawings and the engineer of record’s review.

For the SEOR: We can coordinate a comparison of the specified rail schedule and the proposed JSW arrangement. The SEOR determines whether the alternate meets the project design and approves any change before fabrication or placement.

What we review against the specified rails

Design and layout

  • Column condition, slab thickness and design basis
  • Rail count and orientation at each location
  • Stud diameter, number, spacing and extent
  • Clear cover and placement constraints

Product documentation

  • Applicable ICC-ES report and LA supplement
  • Headed stud and rail material requirements
  • Fabrication and quality documentation
  • Chairs, placing plans and identification

Send the drawings; we’ll define the proposed scope

Upload the structural plans, stud rail schedule or callouts, relevant details, specification language and project location. A completed takeoff helps, but is not required for JSW to review the scope. We can identify the proposed rail configurations, quantities and items that need SEOR confirmation.
